Department of Dietetics and Clinical Nutrition

Healthy food is a prerequisite for a healthy body. Our team of expert nutritionists at the Department of Dietetics and Clinical Nutrition carry out comprehensive diet assessment and counselling for pregnant women, lactating women, patients with anaemia, diabetes, heart, liver or kidney diseases. They also provide diet counselling for overweight and obese patients which would help them achieve the right body mass index (BMI).

Our team works in association with various medical specialities, such as cardiovascular disease, nephrology, cardiology, endocrinology, oncology, gynaecology, paediatrics and critical care to ensure that food taken by our in-patients do not cause any complications and facilitate speedy recovery. The food for inpatients, outpatients and dialysis patients are all served based on the recommendation of our expert nutritionists.

Our department conducts various awareness programs and workshops on food, diet and hygiene for the betterment of people and the society at large. We organize a monthly program called “Mommies Day Out” on every 4th Saturday for expectant mothers, which is related to the diet counseling, exercise and other measures to be taken during pregnancy. In addition, specific diet education programs are also conducted for renal and cardiac patients.
